After we ran the race, we changed clothes (in the car...ha!) and walked over to the zoo. Because we're zoo parents, we have lots of free passes, so we invited Todd's aunt to join us too.
Todd outside the zoo, resting and waiting for his aunt to arrive.
More flamingos (they're just so pretty)
Some other pretty and colorful birds - The Great Hornbills.
Red Panda - I'd like to take this guy home, so cuddly looking.
The chain-link fence. I mean, the Giraffes.
An Ostrich.
The Orangutans.
Orangutan.
Chimpanzee.
The Addax.
Lioness.
The Jaguar (a poor quality picture I still had to post because, well, this is our "kid").
Hmmm...and I was doing so good naming all the animals. This is one of the larger animals in the Reptile House. I'm sure he's related to the Iguana (if he's not an Iguana himself (if he's not a she)). Correct me and I'll give you Internet Points.
And my favorite picture from the day - Todd and me as a Kangaroo and Joey.
My husband is such a goof-ball.
After our awesome day at the zoo, we went back over to the Park and had a picnic on the grass. It was a wonderful way to start the week.
In fact, I would sure love it if every Monday could be just like this one.
What's your favorite animal at the zoo?

I actually have several comments today!
First, I'm pretty sure the unnamed reptile in an iguana.
Second, isn't Land Park the best?! I live the the area and we walk to the park often... the neighborhood is just so amazing and I WISH we could afford to buy here!
And lastly, what kind of camera do you have? Your pictures are always so clear and seem to have great zoom ability. Do you mind sharing how much it cost and whether you recomment it? I need to get a better camera before my trip to Europe next year!!
Chardonnay - thanks!! Internet points to you!! :-) I too would LOVE to buy a home near Land Park...there were a couple foreclosures we saw during our run that will probably still be sold for millions of dollars...crazy (but probably worth it, what a great area!!). Thanks for the photo compliments too! The camera I used for those photos is just a point-and-shoot canon powershot sd1100 IS digital elph (8 mega pixel). Todd said they just upgraded this line though, and yes, I totally recommend it for a small, easy, tranportable point-and-shoot! I love it. We got it from costco for about $180. Right now I'm dying for a dslr, but as pas go, I loooove this camera! Let me know if you have any other questions!!
The picture of the Chimpanzee is perfect....
I love the Great Apes, and there are no zoos close that have them, so I don't go to the zoo.
